Activism, Architecture, and VR: A Lecture at the London School of Architecture

Architects and researchers from Miastopracownia, Dominika Janicka, Barbara Nawrocka, and Dominika Wilczyńska, visited the London School of Architecture to share insights from their ongoing work at the intersection of architecture, feminist activism, and public-space research, with a particular focus on their contributions to the CAPHE project.

During the talk, they presented a series of case studies illustrating how participatory tools and collaborative methodologies can reshape design processes. Among these, they highlighted CAPHE’s experimental use of virtual reality in architectural practice, demonstrating how VR becomes a platform for dialogue, co-creation, and testing spatial ideas with diverse communities – especially young participants involved in earlier stages of the project.

By sharing working strategies and moments of negotiation within their projects, the architects showed how feminist perspectives actively transform both the practice and teaching of architecture. Their presentation emphasized that activism in design does not operate at the margins; it unfolds through everyday practices, collective knowledge-building, and a sustained commitment to creating more equitable spatial futures.
